Piñon Peak, our 1/2 Accoyo herdsire, represents an impressive combination of genetics from both parents. His sire is Peruvian Da Vinci, a son of PPeruvian Victor G4563 imported from Don Julio Barreda's Estancia Accoyo near Macusani, Peru. His dam Sachet, was sired by another pre-eminent Accoyo male, 4Peruvian Pachacuti 6011.
Piñon Peak has settled his first female and we are now using him on some of our white and fawn girls to add his Accoyo fiber density, staple length, crimp, and head to toe bundling to next year's crias. He literally has billowy clouds of bundled, crimpy fleece covering nearly every inch of his body. His yearling fleece weighed in at over 6 pounds and had an average fiber diameter of 23.3 microns. Peak has very good conformation, a perfect bite and has grown to be the largest alpaca on our farm.
